Unfortunately, my experience with AJ Bell has been disappointing, particularly in terms of the company culture and how employees are treated. It quickly becomes evident that AJ Bell does not value or trust its workforce. Instead of fostering a supportive and empowering environment, the company seems to operate on a foundation of surveillance and control. Employees are closely monitored using door pass data, and there is a constant pressure to "prove" you're working, even when you are. The emphasis isn’t on productivity or quality of work—it's on physical presence. There’s a strict and inflexible requirement to be in the office 50% of the time, regardless of role or effectiveness while working remotely. Those who fail to meet this arbitrary benchmark are met with threats and disciplinary warnings, rather than support or understanding. This micromanagement culture erodes morale and creates a toxic atmosphere of distrust. It feels less like being part of a forward-thinking financial company and more like being back in school, where you're constantly being checked up on and punished if you don't follow rules to the letter. AJ Bell talks about innovation and being a great place to work, but the internal experience tells a very different story. If you're looking for a company that values autonomy, flexibility, and truly trusts its employees, this may not be the place for you.
