Long process to become full time staff

Great colleagues, relatively diverse newsroom, compared to other media companies, and the ability to tell powerful and important stories on a wide range of global issues.

Management was often lacking competence, leadership or both. One male colleague failed up repeatedly — like, got promotions after complaints were filed against him. This happened two or three times and was demoralizing and toxic.
