Pros
This company excels at marketing, almost to a fault. They claim to have "the world’s largest multi-ethnic Asian gut microbiome database," but it appears that many of the key datasets are federated and not fully usable for core business functions. It's impressive that leadership has managed to present a fully functional data operation to investors, employees, and customers, despite the underlying reality. The company's focus on short-term performative wins over building operational and cultural integrity has been a long-standing issue, and the skeletons are now starting to show.
Cons
If you're looking to gain experience in sales and marketing, this could be a decent place, assuming you're comfortable with stretching the truth. However, for those who want to do serious, long-term company building, this is not the place for it. The focus here is on taking shortcuts and obscuring dysfunctional systems to impress investors rather than solving fundamental problems. Anyone who wants to truly build and create great work should look elsewhere. You've been severely warned. On a personal note, as a Singaporean, I do hope that genuine leaders that actually solve problems in the healthtech space will arise.
