As an interpreter you are just a number and expendable, lowest possible position to be exploited. If you didn’t negotiate a high enough hourly rate at time of hire, you are stuck with it for the rest of your time there. Despite providing a high level professional service, with extensive training, you are treated the same as any phone operator. Evaluated for how many seconds it takes you pick up the phone and how accurately you log into your breaks. Quality of your work doesn’t count for anything. The company management emphasizes these points in their daily interaction with you and it is absolutely demoralizing.
