Pros
Direct supervisors are 8 times out 10 solid leaders who are humble, seek collaboration in their team, push you to be promoted, and encourage you to have innovative ideas even if they contradict their own. Team members are very willing to help each other and encourage one another. PTO is pretty decent Two weeks PTO one week Floating days off and as of two years ago only if you live in California you get two days sick time.
Cons
401k match sucks it is super low in comparison to a lot of other staffing agencies, Senior leadership is out of touch to say the least, they talk about the difficulties of the layoffs (which AMN has done every single quarter since the new CEO took office) and how we must practice financial discipline, and just after a big fat staff cut they take the top performers and all of senior leadership and most of C-suit to Mexico for an all expense paid company vacation. And they shared pictures so you could really feel how much they care about the little guy. They tell people please speak up if you see anything you think needs changed or improved on yet when a lay off happens every quarter you are scared that you will lose your job, I remember them specifically telling my team there will be no lay offs your team is fine you are doing great, and literally the next week they canned half the team via email and they didn't even tell our direct leaders. Christmas of 2023 was so majestic with AMN because they laid off people on Christmas eve (via email when no one is in the office so they could return to work after and see that AMN Santa put them on the naughty list so they laid off for Christmas) they cut our commissions (for the sake of financial discipline of course) Imagine with me a work environment where you are constantly afraid you will lose your job any day and your senior leadership sit on their high thrones waiting for you to slip up so they can practice financial discipline (fire you). Career growth is not even remotely realistic here, I filled out 25 internal applications, completed 50 plus interviews (two for every job) And was rejected for all but the one I have now which I started 2 years and 11 months ago, I am well networked within the company and was referred by even some senior leadership for majority of the positions. Needless to say the outlook for the company is bleak, tenure means all but nothing. This is not even a place I would recommend to get your experience and get out.
