Pros
Got me more comfortable and proficient with EMT basic skills Your coworkers are usually great Plenty of overtime opportunities
Cons
Dispatch gets paid more when they sit for hours with big flat screen televisions who don’t care about your wellbeing, have had them mess up calls where patient weights were big factors and they get no reprimand. The CEO only cares about money, wanted employees in VA to go on a “deployment” to Washington state to fill in for workers trying to increase their wages. The condition and safety of patients or employees is not a priority, have had multiple issues with units and told to keep on driving. I’ve seen one instance where one partner was late and a lead dispatcher talked to the supervisor in front of me about giving him the worst calls that day just because he was a couple minutes late. No regard for the other partner, might have kids to take care of but didn’t care at all. Also receive major attitude from dispatch if you’re having issues due to the unsafe equipment the company provides.
