Pros
Decent pay. Some degree of freedom. Some repair shops are much better than others because management practices are not uniform and some bosses are better than others. Shops with multiple employees do much better.
Cons
Difficult place to work, little support, lots of responsibility, lots of blame on employees, little respect for employees from management. No proper guidance, no assistant with necessary goals. The work is tedious and never-ending because ambulances break down at ten times of the rate of normal vehicle and even other emergency type vehicles. You are always behind and overloaded, and if you try to slow down for other important and necessary reasons, you end up paying for it in the end. Never took an official vacation in 3 years, just extended holidays. You also bring home worries and stress because emergency calls never end and ambulances run 24-hours year round, which means you're necessarily on call and responsible for all damage and breakdowns to vehicles. EMR workers can be lazy, careless, difficult, and uncooperative at times.Very little camaraderie, which was quit surprising.
