Pros
there is much more work than available manpower due to our CEO notorious push to be "lean". When "lean" is just another excuse to work corporate teams to burnout. You will never be bored as there is so much manual work to be done ( as leadership is very resistant to making technological improvements across all corporate functions!). Silently tolerating the toxic culture is seen as "cultural alignment".
Cons
where do I start? the first day of joining ASM, I could see that there is so many cultural issues, and leadership issues. No amount of feedback that employees give about their managers in Asia can make any difference as being Senior Manager and above will grant you "immunity" against criticism. So much toxicity is perpetuated across corporate functions- and the People team is always being a roadblock to the Business. Instead of championing employees welfare and also championing a culture which is holistic, the People team just serves to perpetuate the toxic culture from the top. Cannot blame them- I mean, look at the CHRO in ASM, where she perpetuates fear in our Leaders. Any grievances or unfairness is just brushed away by the People team, and if you dare to feedback to the People team, it will be escalated as a complain, and you will pay the price during your performance review calibration. any hopes of things improving are dashed, with all the recent Leadership hires that follows our top leadership, who is extremely toxic, Leadership ( Corp Directors, Senior Managers, Directors) will blame you for everything that goes wrong, and takes credit for all that goes right!
