I could not agree more with the previous review labeling Active Minds as 'toxic'. Active minds is toxic, infuriating, close-minded, and frankly, racist. Yes, you will see people of color on their team page, however, up until last year there were ZERO people of color on their board and 1 on the team. After being called out for lack of diversity, they are now trying to adjust their image. As someone who comes from a minority group, I would prefer they hire people of color out of merit rather than to better their image and be able to paste these people all over their website to look like they are inclusive.
As for the work environment, we were overworked and underpaid. You weren't considered to be working unless you were juggling 100 projects at once and if you brought up the work load, you were called 'lazy' and threatened with being fired... I believe the exact words were 'if you don't want to do the job, we will find someone who will'.
You were expected to work 12+ hours with no overtime pay and no thank you or appreciation for putting your work before everything else. Employees who were there for years were babied and excused for coming in late or not coming in at all. The rest of us who picked up the slack were watched under a microscope and questioned about every aspect of your work. Micro-managing at a whole new level, and Alison and her "senior team" were condescending and verbally abusive.
For a mental health organization, they care nothing about the well being of their employees or their supporters. The only thing they care about is bringing in money and I would love to know where their millions of dollars of grants goes to, because it is clearly not going to creating resources that actually help young adults who are struggling. They are charging these students hundreds of dollars for programs that aren't helpful.
