Pros
Good company to get your feet wet when interested in the solar industry. Gain good experience and learn the wrong way to do things so that you can do it right.
Cons
Terrible time management. Constantly going back a re-doing things that should have been done in the first place I.E. wrapping a pv line in tape and writing a number on it then coming back and putting an actual label on it when you could have just put a label on in the first place. There is a saying amongst the employees "Affordable Solar does it nice because they do it twice". What a joke!! Horrible turnover. In 6 months went through 3 supervisors and a turnover of crew twice. Lack of leadership. Supervisors are more worried about hitting milestones and will push things being done in a half hazard manner so that they can report an accomplishment when really there are people going back through fixing mistakes made along the way costing the company double the hours in manpower. Use what you got attitude is very prominent and you will spend more time and work twice as hard to accomplish something for the lack of equipment, tools and parts. Secrecy is another issue. They will constantly try and keep workers out of the dark in how to perform certain tasks in order to maintain job security for those more qualified (They will tell you its so mistakes are not made but its not true the tasks are just a lot easier than they want you to know). Process improvement is a complete joke. You will do things the hard way period! Lack of true management. Supervisors will hang out in the office and only come out to waste time and let time go by. The only time they show any leadership is when a visitor is coming. Overall it has to be the worst work experience ever.
