Akron Children's Response
4yAkron Children’s recognizes we’re part of a nationwide staffing shortage in health care, and we’ve taken numerous steps to address this issue. While we routinely give employees more than a 2% increase each year, we’ve recently made significant adjustments in compensation for numerous roles across the organization. We’ll continue to review and adjust compensation in other areas to ensure we remain competitive in the marketplace. To address the staffing shortage in key areas, we launched a Helping Hands flexible staffing support program, through which employees receive extra compensation for extra training and work in those areas. Several hundred employees – along with retired nurses – have made clear their commitment to our patients by participating in this program. We now also offer sign-on bonuses for many roles. We will continue to be aggressive and creative in addressing this issue, while also providing staff support through wide-ranging resiliency programs.
