Pros
The only legitimate pro that remains are the few co-workers that have not been forced out, left to protect their well-being, or been laid off. Prior to the attacks on our team by the uppermost leadership and the lack of action by the board, our team was united and though small, made an incredible impact on the lives of many. We were innovative, collaborative, and had developed a team full of wonderful and passionate people.
Cons
Uppermost leadership seems to not care at all about the work done to help immigrants within the United States, unless it can be a photo opportunity. When US employees were drowning in cases and asked for more staff and support, upper management turned their backs on the staff. Multiple staff members left feeling burned out, betrayed, harassed, and belittled. Many of us suffered from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and thoughts of self harm because of the nightmares we experienced working for Al Otro Lado. Working here brought me to the lowest point in my life, and I am writing this review in the hope that no one else goes through the same. Now, the mismanagement of the organization by vengeful and self-absorbed leadership has put in peril the long-term sustainability of the organization's US based programs. Beware that working here may not last, whether by choice or not.
