Pros
• Very straight forward job requirements • Low Expectations overall • Job itself is not exceptionally difficult (though people can be) • Humorous/interesting interactions with customers on occasion • 10% employee discount on store brand items, 5% on everything else • Labor Union representation (be warned however they are mostly a union in name only, the do collectively negotiate for what are effectively "symbolic" raises but amount to very little and they aren't much help for anything else. Looking at you Tom Rodgers.... •Flexability. They will work around your schedule with you and give you hours that work for you most of the time.
Cons
• Lackluster and ineffective in-store management • Toxic company culture (abuse of employees is commonplace (mental and physical on occasion) and many perceived to different in some way are frequently targeted by management at many times bordering or crossing the line into title 6 discrimination) • Health Violations (This place was crawling with rats and was shut down by the Virginia department of health on multiple occasions during my 18 months employment there, not to mention food would be left to rot on cases and in carts in the back) and produce management refused to rotate produce out and insisted on selling it presumably to make their dept numbers/volume look better within the store. • No actual breaks for part timers • Lazy people everywhere • Theft
