Pros

Pay is good, offer a lot of professional development and coaching for teachers. District also offers a lot of supplies for teachers and students.

Cons

All meetings (IEPs, staff meetings, grade-level meetings, content meetings, SFA reading meetings) are all scheduled outside of school hours. It's very typical for teachers to come in at 7am and not leave until 5 or 6pm everyday.

Pros

Alhambra itself is a community of professionals, students, and neighborhood that are interconnected to achieve one goal only - Develop and Education Every Child. There was an overwhelming amount of support at the school and district levels, where administrators are there to support new and seasoned educators with their pedagogical practices and classroom management. The district itself is great at reuniting schools around the district through district-wide events where all parties are invited to participate in afterschool sports, cook outs, celebrations, and holiday festivities. The district is also an Apple product district where students are provided a one-to-one device to help leverage and introduce new digital technology tools in the classroom to help cultivate new 21st-century skills and communication networks.

Cons

The inner city will always have the stigma that is visible at the surface level, however, if you come into this district with the vision of an educator, you will know that you have the power to positively impact the lives of many students who step foot in your classroom. Regardless of the good days or the bad days (sometimes), you will always be reminded about your purpose on a daily basis because of the personal connections that you make with the students and colleagues who are there to serve the mission of educating the whole child.
