Cons
- Some people get promoted based on their personal scientific contributions rather than their soft skills or ability to manage teams. There is more effort being invested in training & development for some of these skills gaps though, and hopefully this will help. - On many teams there is a culture of working long hours. This is approximately in line with the rest of the industry - certainly not more than in most other corporate cultures or research communities.
