Pros
Easy enough Job, simple rules to follow and enforce, mostly just dealing with chemical spills, employee terminations (walking them out), and checking in Contractors, Truck Drivers, and Guests. Get to meet some really powerful people around the company, I've met Fisk (Current owner of SCJ) a few times myself. Supervisors are cool and are all former guards who know the job well and can give you plenary of advice and training. Can study a little in the job if it's a slow day, especially if your work 3rd shift. Good pay for a local security guard position. Very interesting environment depending on placement inside of SCJ, working the office buildings can be boring, but patrolling inside the chemical plant is a lot more fun.
Cons
Depending on personal opinion this can be a Pro or Con, the rotations for full time officers are 7 days on, 2 off, 7 on, 5 off. I enjoy the nice 5 day vacation myself. However this means every 3 weeks you have a 34 hour work week instead of a 40. If there is a call off in the shift after yours you may be forced to stay for 4 hours past your shift because you can not drop security coverage. This is an agreed upon situation before you are even given the job, it sucks but it's part of the job (It's also good for OT though). There are a LOT of call offs, and you will get woken up at least once a week by them calling you to see if you can come in early. (Once again, good if you like OT). People always seem to be running late to work, and you'll get held 10 minutes over from time to time. Management stays pretty clear of you and as such has little to no idea what's ever going on. If you get stuck with a bad employee on your shift, your enjoyment of the job will decrease big time. This job is all about the people you work with.
