Only if you have a connection to someone in upper management, do you stand a chance of getting promoted. And that is not a "pro".

As mid-management or head of a department/division, prepare to be treated an non-essential; bullied, ignored and excluded from meetings and emails unless you have a personal connection or history with the CEO or a relationship with a client.
