Pros
15 minute local commute. Free snacks.
Cons
Offshore team doesn't communicate, offshore team management and engineers are incompetent, except for a couple of engineers, but even they don't communicate and contribute to one team philosophy. Top management says Sunnyvale team should take the lead, mentor offshore team toward improvement, yet top management does nothing to hold offshore management and their teams to be accountable, even blames you for reporting offshore team's weaknesses.
Sprint planning does not include individual engineers (at least not in Sunnyvale office), no user stories beforehand with descriptive text, using insufficient mockups for sprint work. No behavior descriptions.
Alpha Ori CTO is chairman of consulting company ShipPalm, who supplies large number of contractors to offshore team. This is a huge conflict of interest, as these contractors get money from Alpha Ori for Ship Palm, even if project fails.
Engineering management is more interested in keeping their life easy, does not take initiative to ensure difficult problems are solved.
No stock option plan.
Inability to solve core technology issues delaying revenue. Ultimately this is what will drive investors to stop putting money in, and what will result in company ceasing to exist.
Good people leave, mediocre people stay. Demeaning company.
