Pros

Various shift patterns e.g 6:30am- 10:30am, 10:30am- 2:30pm, 2:30pm- 6:30pm, 6:30pm- 10:30pm and occasionally other inbetween shifts are available. You can choose to do over-time most days from an extra hour up to four hours or maybe more. You can choose to do an extra shift on your days off. Over-time is optional unlike at Sainsbury's or other companies where you can get "flexed up" mandatory 1-2 hours added onto your shift. Varied roles throughout your shift. You could start of receiving stock and then be picking (ambient, chill or freezer), stowing or put-away you may help out down stairs in the sortation area dispatching the items. After six months or so you maybe asked to transport pallets, freezer bags, cages e.tc around the warehouse using pump trucks from time-to-time. The job is relatively easy the pick-rate is not that hard to hit and there's not a great deal of pressure to hit your targets. The people are friendly and easy going, most off the agency staff you can have a laugh and a joke with. Supervisors at the Amazon Prime I worked at except for one is easy to get along with. Managers........a little aloof sometimes but overall you would rarely interact with them. In the summer if it was hot you could, on some days get free ice creams, lollies, choc ices. On special Prime days every couple off months or so there would be free chocolates, cakes buscuits, crisps available. And they used to do a round table session once a month for the managers and staff to talk about issues on the warehouse floor. Free pizza, drinks, chocolates 30 minutes off your shifts yaaaaah. They pay the London living wage of £10.55 per hour.

Cons

If you do the early shift you obviously have to get up early and you sometimes miss out on the goodies (free sweets and pizza) You normally have to shift to whatever shift pattern you have chosen for at least three months. Points system- if you pick up six points within a certain time a month you could be terminated..... not in the Arnie "I'll be back" kinda way but if you're late, if you don't late them know you're running late, if you don't show up for work etc you get between 1-3 points against you which go back down to zero at the start of the new month. but sometimes the points and the length of time varies.
