Pros
The commute from my home was only 15 minutes
Cons
Their commissions are very low for both P&C and Life insurance products. Many of the red flag warnings won't surface till you are done with their 3 month training process then you see it clearly when you try to start policies. The underwriting is ridiculous, and I was shocked that they require a social security number to bind P&C in California. Also, they use Carfax to rate and determine how many miles the customer drives, which always comes in much higher than the customers current carrier is stating, and which makes their prices go way up. Most of the quotes I did I couldn't compete in price. They have an extremely lengthy hiring process which is overly ridiculous. If you are an expericened agent avoid working for this company their systems are not streamline, and they are very old fashioned and are out of touch with insurance in California. They charge you $100 for E&O per month plus a desk fee even if you work from home most days. Not to mention that they have no name recognition which is surprising since they are a wealthy corporation. In addition, when I started I was told to dress up professionally when in the office in case customers came by. Then later when the manager would come in dressed way down I asked I thought we had to dress up while in the office, and he said your independent you can dress any way you like. Another red flag is that your supposed to be independent but they want you to come in on their schedule which is like working a W2 9-5 job. And when I did come in on their schedule the manager rarely had time for me, or was leaving early as usual. There were many inconsistencies in this office, which shows that some managers are not ready to have their own agencies.
