Pros

I recently was made aware of this site and was quite taken back by some of the reviews on here. Although I can certainly agree with some of the things said, both positive and negative, I don't think these reviews give the true meaning behind the hearts of the many people that work here and work hard every day. American Sentinel University has an open door policy in which every employee has free reign to go to anyone in upper management if they have an issue with something. I know first hand that HR is willing to go above and beyond for the benefit of the employees and University. American Sentinel is very flexible with work/life balance and understands the importance of family. We have many employees that exceed expectations because they are appreciated, and enjoy what they do. I recommend this University to anyone that enjoys higher education and helping others meet their personal and professional goals.

Cons

I believe a positive mind will give you a positive life. Not all employees, or people in general are healthy both emotionally and mentally and that makes it hard to be happy and have a healthy outlook on their future. Ever heard the saying "Misery loves company" ? Don't believe everything you read on here. I enjoy my position and other departments and admissions have great teams that will do anything to help each other!

Pros

Leadership is trying to fix things the best they can.

Cons

Leadership comes from a business mentality with little understanding or experience in academia (boots on the ground) with the exception of one person, who is often overruled. One of the leaders has absolutely no leadership experience and is perceived as a bully by most of the faculty, but she is 'protected'. Even though they offer a DNP degree, no one in leadership has a DNP degree and they have a steep learning curve in relation to this. At times too much focus on saving money versus resources students need. At times it seems like patching holes in a dam and sooner or later it will burst. Can be punitive culture with little time for quality teaching due to workload demands are very high. Extremely high faculty turnover.
