Pros

Young environment with friendly but brainwashed people

Cons

Questionable practices within the company. You hear the same redundant and misleading information repeated frequently. The job is essentially one of those people who flag you down in the mall to try products, only it’s in wholesale stores. You have to call suppliers and hear them describe the products you’re going to be selling, but they don’t consider it sales. They do not allow for you to interact with the entry level employees, which can be frustrating since you’re expected to network. I assume this is because they don’t want the new hires to interact with anyone who isn’t a completely brainwashed sycophant. The people you’re supposed to network with are senior employees who talk in circles with ambiguous upbeat language. In the field you will earn roughly $7 per hour and working 12-14 hour days for 7-10 days straight for at least a year without base salary. Nobody I knew past or present ever earned more than $700 in a paycheck. You’re also expected to resource call in the field, which seems unnecessary, but if you’re not constantly calling people to check in you’re never going to be promoted. Lastly, there’s definitely the overall feeling that the company is dependent on brainwashing employees. You have to participate in office rituals like chanting, repetition, and buy into this fairytale of becoming a successful entrepreneur. While it fosters a sense of community, I feel like it’s mostly a way to keep employee morale high because if not for the morale, there is no reason to work so hard and for such long hours when you could earn more money and work fewer hours delivering pizza. They expect a substantial investment from their employees but have little to offer in terms of compensation, personal and professional advancement, or work/life balance.

Pros

In 4 months I've grown SO much. I have learned time management, money management, how to generate revenue, how to interview, how to read and recognize people in order to hire the right person, how to manage people, inventory management, HR, PR, networking, how to be RESILIENT...and I still have so much left to learn! This career is not for everyone for sure. You have to have that inner drive, that HUNGER to succeed no matter the obstacle. That's what makes this career so amazing! The people who succeed are the ones who have worked their butts off and I've met them, they're making bank! I am forever grateful and so appreciative that I found this opportunity to really make something out of my life. Also all the travel opportunities are pretty awesome.

Cons

It's like working out and cleaning up your diet to get fit. Some days you want to give up, skip the gym, and eat a large pizza and a pint of ice cream all to yourself. But pushing through the challenges, learning and growing from the obstacles to be better the next time you're faced with them, that's what makes this career so rewarding! And in the end all your hard work pays off, you're super fit, and super proud of yourself for sticking with it and not giving up no matter what. It's not a career for everyone, much like being fit. If it was easy, everyone would do it! :)
