Pros
Good wages considering at the time I had no college degree (though had previous experience). Good benefits: healthcare, vacation and sick time, 401k match. Good work/life balance. Beautiful new-er facility and clean wareouse with competent crews. Good, safe, experienced drivers. Employee pricing for moves, materials. Competent co-workers.
Cons
Company will attempt to suggest you are doing a poor job in order to remove you when the real problem is they are having a current cashflow issue or losing contract business (as happened with my job - outsourced, and the IT department - outsourced, and many other functions immediately thereafter removed, probably 80% pre-recession office staff were let go). The idea of 'favoured' employees is not at all a stretch on the truth. Some management will not allow new input and micromanage even while the shop was caving in around them yet allow inadequacy and sheer stupidity if they think you're a 'star'. I think they were just stressed out knowing the true condition of the company. You may be placed in different positions without your consent as needed however they will give you a raise if you ask for it due to the inconvenience/instability.
