Pros
Middle management and below is amazing. Across multiple departments, the ability for them to program such major works with little funding of upper management support is crazy.
Cons
Ran by corporate veterans with no non-profit experience or care for cultural programming. Before, the low pay, lack of internal resources, and no proper HR were masked by passionate programming and a healthy work environment, but no longer the case. Board and corporate entities that are not even major donors have too much say.
There is also no room for growth. No performance evaluations, when staff leave, they will leave roles vacant for years, which is detrimental for event-based work.
