      Pros

      - None of the old leadership is left so reinvent and restart (CEO got the boot.. good) - Can convince leadership of random timelines and they won’t push back because they don’t understand the system.

      Cons

      - Valuation is at historic lows so basically years of hard work gets you about $10 worth of equity (hr will say this allows the company to reinvent) - Lost Co-founder / AI guru - Fired engineering teams in the name of restructure (hr will say it’s growing company problems) - The UI looks like it’s made by college interns and competitions has surpassed us by a mile (hr will say we are always improving.. yea when will it improve? When the company shuts down?) - CRO left (advertised as sales shifting their culture for fast selling) - Random people getting bloated titles (I guess that’s acknowledging hard work) - HR deletes messages they don’t like (doesn’t meet company guidelines or just hurt your feelings) - You can’t ask questions in all hands (no time I guess or they find other excuses) - Have been trying to do return to office for over a year with no luck (in the name of culture but you can just imagine if you can’t figure that out are you capable of figuring anything else out?) - OKRs are just for PowerPoints there are teams that haven’t delivered anything in months but just collecting paychecks (hr will say we take this very seriously but that’s just fluff they want to cover their backs) - Other than research here and there there is no PR that gets us any traction (hr will say we are actively working on interesting things but they aren’t fast enough to the finish lone to be relevant)

      Hi, I’m Neill, the new CEO. I’m not sure if we ever met. Here are my responses: I’m glad you support the change, but Brendan didn’t get the boot. He’s still full-time with the company as Chief Strategy Officer. There has been a lot of leadership change in general. Did you know that the average tenure of executives at venture-backed startups is 18 months? We’ve historically had much longer tenure. In my case, that’s definitely true. I rely on the folks in Engineering to work in good faith and submit credible timelines. Is there widespread deception in that regard? If so, to what end? There are a lot of statements about what HR will say and do. HR doesn’t do most of those things. HR does not: -Opine on valuation -Talk about our product user experience -Delete messages (from where would they even be deleting them? They don’t have admin access to Slack.) -Discuss PR and what “interesting things” might get us more PR On other points: -You’ll be glad to hear that Soby is working with us full time again. I wouldn’t call him an AI guru. He’s a SaaS and AI *security* guru for sure. -We did restructure last year. That was tough, but necessary. -I can’t comment on bloated titles without specifics. I’m really impressed by the people we’ve promoted, and I like that we’re moving more to home-grown leaders than hiring them from outside. -I don’t run All Hands. I run Town Hall now and we always leave time for Q&A. I’ve also started doing more Town-Hall-style meetings that are mostly Q&A. -Return to office has gone slowly, and that’s on me. I was responsible for it when I was COO. There has been a lot of resistance internally, and we’re still trying to figure out how to make everyone happy. It seems we’re one of the few companies still supporting remote work these days. -We’ve moved from OKRs to V2MOM. As a rule, these are supposed to be ambitious, so we don’t expect to hit all of them.       Pros

      - People: You get to work with brilliant engineers who are humble and willing to share knowledge. Management is mindful in helping you be the best version of yourself. - Impact: Work you do can move the needle and make big waves. - Growth: Provides a good environment to step outside your comfort zone and grow. - Direction: The company has industry leaders and visionaries at the helm. I am confident in the current offering and future trajectory of this business. - Compensation: They take care of their employees. The fitness stipend is a really nice and generous perk.

      Cons

      - Pivoting: As expected in the security industry, business trends move quickly. As priorities change, you need to take initiative to be and stay involved. - Aggressive deadlines: I'm glad the business is moving with a sense of urgency. It's balanced well for the most part, but can heat up when approaching deadlines like security conferences or other showcase opportunities. Don't think I'd change that but something to be aware of.

      Pros

      - Competent engineers and good collaborators. Bad developers are pretty rare and almost everyone wants to be better at what they do. Code reviews are thorough and poor quality code doesn't ship much anymore. - Management is very technical (and most of leadership are/were engineers). This means no 1-hour standups, no random administrative BS, etc. Managers are also at the forefront of off-hours activity/issues and they will rarely contact ICs. - Platform was built by some of the best security experts you'll ever meet. - Most of our competitors' products are... not great. Ours is improving leaps and bounds. - People actually take the unlimited PTO.

      Cons

      - Some staffing changes were sudden. This has honestly been the case most places I've worked for, though. - Much of the initial platform code has become tech debt, but almost all of the active dev efforts have somehow addressed that. - People in HCOL areas are probably a bit undercompensated. Additional compensation besides base is pretty rare due to budgets. - No longer a "work from anywhere" culture as we're hiring out of specific cities. Greatly reduces the talent pool.
