Pros

- Nondestructive Testing (NDT) is a very interesting field and provides exposure to many industries. - There were some office staff and technicians that were great to work with.

Cons

The following feedback is based on my experience working for Applus RTD in Canada. - Key management and administrative personnel are undereducated and/or unqualified for their positions. They are oblivious to current business strategies, best practices and software. This reflected in the company culture which was substandard. I can only guess that the Spanish head office is aware of this and simply choose to do nothing. - "Fake job titles" – some management and administrative personnel have misleading job titles that are in no way indicative of the type of work they actually perform. However, these same individuals are paid exorbitant salaries based on these job titles. This stifles growth for other employees who perform more important duties and are paid far less. - Key management and administrative staff lack motivation (most likely due to their excessive guaranteed salaries). As a result, they uphold a substandard culture and resist continuous improvement. - There were instances were “friends of management” were hired for important project or management positions even though they did not have qualifications or experience commensurate with the position. - Excessive “jet-setting” by key management personnel who fly from office-to-office with no clear purpose (business related) and accomplish next to nothing in doing so. I will end here, even though there are other cons. There is plenty of evidence to support all the points above.

Pros

Enjoyed hands-on technical work such as: - Data modeling and diagram creation - Dashboard development - SQL development and querying - Improving data systems and supporting internal tools Work had clear impact when properly scoped (improving testing, safety, and quality processes) Broad exposure to multiple domains, including data, integration, and legacy systems Strong learning experience due to the variety and complexity of systems involved

Cons

The scope of the North America role was not realistic for a single data analyst - Functioned as the sole analyst supporting multiple acquired companies with complex, inconsistent systems Responsibilities extended well beyond a typical data analyst role - Included elements of data engineering, systems integration, database administration, IT support, and project management without corresponding staffing or structure Significant understaffing in the North American organization - Workload and expectations were consistently misaligned with available resources, leading to unsustainable demands on individuals High levels of technical debt across systems - Reliance on short-term fixes rather than long-term, maintainable architecture - Resulted in ongoing inefficiencies and rework Misalignment between headquarters and North American operations - Expectations and operational reality appeared disconnected, with structural issues often reflected as individual performance pressure
