Pros
I've been at Aprilaire for about a year and it is the best job that I have had so far. The culture is welcoming and supportive, and also challenging. I feel i have grown more in the last year of work than I have at any other time in my career. My contributions are valued and recognized and I feel I finally have the flexibility to exercise my creativity and analytical skills. In most jobs I am forced to choose one of these skillets to use, but at Aprilaire they have tailored my position to let me use my varied experiences and skills to their full potential even though I have a diverse mix of talents. Additionally I feel like aprilaire manufactures products that I can feel proud of and good supporting. I personally could not work for a company that claims to make the best, but in reality produces sub-par products. Aprilaire absolutely sells good, dependable products that help people with real air quality issues. This makes me feel good about my work and it also motivates me to do the best I can on every project. Someone at Aprilaire told me when I first started that if I have the appetite for certain kinds of work, Aprilaire can provide what you need to satisfy it, and this has certainly been true in my experience working here. I am grateful for the opportunities this company has provided and I am grateful to have had the support of such excellent colleagues and managers.
Cons
My main criticism of Aprilaire is that I feel there are people working here should perhaps should not still be with the company due to unprofessional behavior. These people are in an extreme minority, however it concerns me that such behavior is accepted and that appropriate consequences of said behavior are not always brought down. For me it calls into question the culture of this company that such individuals are allowed to continue on, and even get promoted, without many repercussions. I love the culture of Aprilaire, partly because it does feel a bit like a family; but perhaps the downside of this is that due to feeling like a family it is hard for the management to properly reprimand those who need it the most. This is my top criticism of Aprilaire. In all other areas the company thrives, and is growing.
