Pros

The new office was lovely, Coffee bar great, In house catering and events for customers was fantastic, Individual team members below management were great.

Cons

If I could give 0 stars I would, I was reading the reviews and the only good once seem to be from current employees ( assuming there trying to increase the company score by adding some good reviews). Initially I thought the bank was great until they started changing the teams constantly and people went missing ( yes missing ..... everyone is expected to step in last minute and customers getting frustrated )without any thought going into the decision. I appreciate change must happen to grow but when the driving factors are race and gender this is unacceptable. Work like in the office was good but often found there was the expectation to work on your day of or weekend which every now and then is fine but it was constant. Leadership was shocking! hired friends with no real experience for the job so they can gang up on people. Many concerns were raised with evidence to both HR and management and was pushed under the carpet, including racial, making fun of disabilities, even being bias towards males and holding leads back from pregnant staff members. HR have no "real" qualifications and as per many posts back the management and don't take actual concerns seriously as if they did management would be changed due to the evidence against them which was buried. this company raves about it survey but the survey is held up by the regional offices who are not in the toxic London office, you'll find if you looked at the survey for individual teams you'll see how bad the London scores are. panorama should do a document on this company it would be damaging for this business

Pros

I like the environment and how the bank operates. It’s very hands-on and you’re expected to take ownership, which suits how I like to work. I’ve worked in similar environments before and generally prefer it to the hierarchy you get at big banks. I've found that the leaders across the business I deal with are approachable, accessible, and welcoming of good debate. I’ve always felt comfortable being myself at work. Work/life balance has also been good. I’m a bit of a workaholic, but I’ve never felt pressure to be online outside normal hours which are typically 9-5. Recently I went through a promotion process and felt it was handled well. Like any interview process there were nerves involved, but I felt supported by my line manager throughout. The process itself was pretty standard compared to elsewhere I’ve worked... competency interview with two senior leaders and a presentation to an ExCo member. Given the size of the bank, there isn’t always a completely defined progression path, but in my exprience with the bank growing there are good opportunities for people who are proactive about their development.

Cons

As with any smaller banks growing quickly, there are growing pains, but nothing I haven’t seen elsewhere in similar environments. Personally I’d rather be somewhere like AL that is growing vs the alternative!

Pros

Nice new office compared to the old one.

Cons

Very old fashioned and outdated working styles. Micromanagement is often normal here and accountability doesn’t exist. Work is more, salaries are less, especially with in office policy enforcing. Pension matching is low, benefits are limited. Bonuses aren’t what you would expect from a private bank.
