Pros
Work with a lot of great people in a really bad environment. The company makes all the required PPE available to you but it’s a horrible environment and the management does not seem to understand that working in a crane bridge beam where the temperature can reach above 55degC is not easy.
Cons
There is way too much red tape to get any real work done and everything seems to be covered in so much paper work you can go 8hours and not lift a tool. Management has no idea what the working man does and had no idea what really needs to happen to get any work done, they will write you up and give you a day off just for doing your job because they are clueless. The Trades people are generally under paid and production is over paid but this is the normal at Dofasco. The only direction this company seems to be heading is down. Corporate keeps clawing back on everything for benefits to holidays and yet we keep hearing about record profits. At one time this was an above average place to work and spend 30+ years now its below average and keep looking for next job because spending 30 years here is no longer a good option.
