Pros

Good product, very reliable compared to the rest of the market, senior leadership really know their stuff when it comes to engineering

Cons

Lack of leadership and structure in the sales organisation . You get paid based on bookings rather than targets, and you are told to find your own territory more or less. Thus, the larger the accounts the larger the spent the more you get paid, without carrying the relevant targets to perform against. As you can imagine, those accounts are already taken by existing reps & management, ain't going anywhere. I recommend to stay a way from the sales org unless you trust that the manager is gonna deliver on what you agreed on and has additional reasons to help you. Arista does not share/ split commissions among teams thus management keeps large existing accounts for themselves to make some commission alongside base and stock, thus financial success ain't aligned between manager & rep as 1 can succeed or fail independently. Now ask yourself, if making new team members successful requires upsetting existing team members with account changes & as a manager you get paid lots no matter the performance of your team, would you care to push for the changes? Given the sales structure, the decision comes down to the ethics and customs of management and since it's not for granted, don't be surprised if you end up in very different role from what you discussed during your interviews!

Pros

Hands off management Remote work Lot of autonomy Quality EOS Great AI story I keep to myself and get my work done. They'll work you as hard as you let them, so it's important to set boundaries and expectations early on.

Cons

Office politics comes with any organization Constantly have AI shoved in my face

Pros

Top-tier technology. brilliant engineers. Incredible customer support TAC. The hyperscalers are consuming Arista tech at an alarming rate, and that serves as a great testimonial to the integrity of the technology, but the GTM strategy for Campus expansion is nonexistent.

Cons

Campus/Enterprise & Commercial sales regions are on an island of their own. Zero business development teams, zero marketing, zero branding, zero latest generation tools to prospect, research, and extract data to target your campaigns. If you don't have existing relationships in your market, then you're on your own to prospect, generate interest, connect with decision makers, identify "at bat opportunities" and close new business. The Hyperscaler use-case examples aren't enough to win real enterprise business from Cisco and HPE.
