Pros

The pros were mostly that TDI was close to home and I didn't have to travel far to get to work in the morning. I also liked all the nice people there and made friends with a lot of people over the years I was there.

Cons

When our company was bought by Astrodyne, we were glad to see old management kicked out. They had told us we were merging with Astrodyne but we knew we'd really been sold to them and that management wasnt telling us the real story. The Astrodyne group seemed very nice and a lot of us were very glad to be under new managmeent. Some people who had been there for a year or more as 'temporary' employees were finally hired outright which was really great. We ended up with a differnet medical policy which wasnt as good as our old one and would cost us a lot more to go to the doctor, so that was definitely not good. They also froze our raises again like it had been for the last 4 years, so that wasnt good either. Some departemental changes were made that really havent helped at all and have actually made it worse for a lot of employees. The HR office is closed up all the time now and the ladies leave early or come in late most every day, so its hard to get help with medical forms or 401k questions when no one is in there. Alot of the production floor employees haven't been busy and the new owners have been laying people off, so I decided I'd better find a more secure position elsewhere, which I did. Actually, a number of long time employees have given their resignations and found jobs with more secure companys. I'm not too sure Astrodyne is going to turn this company around - it seems like they're just doing what old management did with freezing raises and lying people off.

Pros

Good experience and friendly colleagues.

Cons

Too many projects for such few resources. Lack of recognition and compensation. Upper management micromanages the team and pull in timelines to meet revenue goals rather than commitments to the customer. They say they want the best engineers and managers, but they dont pay well enough to keep any of them. Lots of inexperienced people puts pressure on those who are experienced to constantly train new people. Management too slow to act on promotions and compensation on the rare occasion that it does happen. All those decisions are made by one person and if you are not in their good graces, start looking for another job. There are so many good people that are suffering under this regime.
