Upper management loves to gas light employees when it comes to trying to get a promotion. Any time someone tries to obtain a promotion the goal post moves even further with many excuses that makes the person raise an eyebrow. I had multiple meetings with an Engineering Director about my career and when I brought up a promotion they had mentioned that they weren’t prepared…. And this happened several times. That’s not professional. Data is also not used to make educated decisions so I’m unsure what upper management is doing. They’ve had multiple layoffs that have made teams smaller with the expectation that the work has to get done.
