I feel like the culture decline started with the poem. It didn’t land well and the follow up sessions dissecting what the poem meant were strange. It felt tone death.
It’s a shame as it feels like senior management have become out of touch. There is a lack of transparency when things are not going well. The communication feels very PR heavy, without addressing the real issue in most recent cases. I’m expecting someone to think, well Nathan just did an announcement on ALTV, i felt like it missed some points people keep raising, i understand if you don’t want to address it company wide, but something should be done in every community. When things are going well some management have an undertone that we should be grateful to work at Autotrader.
The rigid 3 days in the office reduces flexibility so much, not very inclusive, and i think most people would likely accept it if salaries were in line with the market.
It feels like there has been a perfect storm of consistent removal of flexibility to now 3 fixed days in the office. Years of low pay rises, where employees can get differing % and told not to talk about it, the only way for fair and transparent pay in a business. And now a lot of pressure from senior management, filtering down through the whole company, as the business is under pressure. Is it any wonder the culture is declining?
