Pros

- Great looking office with free coffee and cookies all the time. - Cleaning staff always on hand

Cons

Warning to Employees Things might look fantastic from the outside—the shiny office, the fabulous pay—but don’t be fooled. Aware Super’s employment culture is incredibly toxic, led by management that seems to actively work against their employees’ success. There are some truly nasty people here, and very few individuals actually do their work. Most don’t know how to do their jobs, and those who do work hard are likely to be pushed out. It’s a praise-driven culture that rewards sycophants and sidelines anyone who tries to make a real difference. The member growth team is particularly toxic and corrupt. They pretend to care about their members, but in reality, they’re more concerned with filling their pockets with their inflated salaries - ultimately misusing members’ funds. Management is dragging the company down, with outdated and insecure tech that leaves both employees and members vulnerable. Say something out of line, and you’ll hurt someone’s feelings—especially those of the people who have no professional clue what they’re doing. Incompetence is protected here, and questioning it will make you the target. If you value your mental health, professional growth, or ethical integrity, look elsewhere. This place is a dead end. If you value your mental health, professional growth, or ethical integrity, look elsewhere. This place is a dead end.

Pros

Great offices but that's where the wow factor stops

Cons

Employees who are independent thinkers or who come from more direct, outcome-driven environments may struggle here. There can be a strong pressure to conform culturally, even when processes are inefficient or leadership decisions are questionable. Over time, this can become emotionally draining and create unnecessary stress. I would strongly recommend having union representation or understanding your workplace rights before joining. In environments where culture and perception carry significant weight, having independent support and advice can be important if workplace issues arise. It provides a layer of protection and confidence when navigating disputes, restructures, performance concerns, or disagreements with management. There are good people in the organisation who are being pushed out year on year, but prospective employees should go in with clear eyes about the culture and dynamics. And yes even if you are a secretary or an admin clerk, the general Financial Sector union can represent you.
