Pros
West Bloomfield has updated facilities, and a lot of interactive experiences for kids and instructors. Parents are kind and understanding at this location, organized if overbearing management. The hiring management in Birmingham has no music background, so it's a really easy gig to land for instructors.
Cons
Birmingham location hasn't been updated in 10+ years. Parents are some of the worst people I've had the displeasure of interacting with. The owner refuses to communicate with anyone unless it's to ask staff to not pay their bills during the initial COVID shutdown. Admin is expected to work 40+ hours each week, and attempts will be made to not pay overtime. The Birmingham location is a revolving door in terms of office staff because no upgrades are made and scheduling is incredibly difficult due to the lack of proper resources and space, angering already unreasonable and entitled clients. Additionally, the owner refuses to allow management any authority, lending to unchecked problems like inventory going unstocked and broken instruments with no fixes because he's unreliable and refuses contact with anyone. There's effectively no training for instructors. Good luck. This company relies on instructors to take over administrative jobs after everyone else quits because their ties to their students will keep them from leaving. If you like being treated like a doormat and paid at the lowest hiring rate in the company's history, become an instructor at Axis Music Academy.
