Pros
You meet a lot of competitive minded people that encourage you to grow.
If you like door to door sales, this job is perfect for you.
Cons
They force you to wear dress clothes when you show up at the beginning of the day, which wouldn’t be a problem if you didn’t have to change out of them 3 hours into the shift to do door to door sales in different clothing. Also, the fact that this job is door to door sales is generally hidden. When I applied through indeed, I was under the impression that this job was something like Mad Men. I thought that I’d get the opportunity to work on actual advertisements because nothing in the indeed job description imbedded the idea of door to door sales.
The hours are stupid long and you are expected to work 6 days a week. I was away from home longer than 60 hours a week. This wouldn’t be so bad if the job was hourly, but it is NOT. All of your money is commission, and you can be robbed of that commission if your clients decides to cancel their contracts within a certain amount of time after signing up. Being that you’re selling AT&T, contract cancellation happens quite a bit.
If you’re not one of the top sellers, management makes you feel like crap. The management, passive aggressively or aggressively, targets you as one of the weaker links in the chain if you do not do well. Mind you, you do not get negative treatment from your fellow employees. They tend to help and empower you.
