Pros
BC Housing provides great work-life balance for union staffs. The company tries to respect every union employee equally. Stress level is relatively low in the work environment and peer are nice usually. The atmosphere differs a bit for the non-union staffs/ managers though.
Cons
BC Housing is an organization striving to stay in its comfort zone. It can encourage much greater innovation within the organization if the internal inertia were less. The organization's top-down decision model further discourages long-needed changes. Pay attention while signing contracts with BC Housing's HR. There has been cases of ambiguous statement and empty verbal promises happened during interviews as well as the agreement negotiation with union. Can't comment whether it's intentional or just few human errors. Make sure you have every negotiated item slated in the contract and carefully read EVERYTHING twice before signing.
