Pros
Since covid we have been allowed to continue working very flexibly, working from home has been great and allows me to manage home life better too. A lot of tools to stay in touch and collaborate with team members.
Cons
- I’ve worked here for over a year, during that time every single project I’ve worked on (about 5 different projects) has been stopped. There’s been stacks of good reasoning and evidence as to why these projects will save money and massively improve productivity - however all funding has been pulled and everything stopped. - IT leadership seem to be completely out of touch with what’s needed on the ground and quite frankly are doing a poor job of pushing IT forward. - The new buzz word in BT IT is - “Agile”. So unless everything is agile it doesn’t go ahead (whether it’s appropriate to be done agile or not). Also, no one even really understands what agile even is, they just think it’s post it notes and stand up events - leadership need training on what agile is! - Architects are not enabled to make any decisions themselves and are constantly stopped by leadership who aren’t close to projects or business needs. - A lot of people are leaving because things just seem to be getting worse.
