Pros

You get to work in a field you enjoy with other creative people. The hours worked allow for a great work life balance

Cons

Any update, software change or operations change are poorly planned and executed resulting in a high level of frustration for the retail store teams and for the guest they are trying to serve. Leadership is clueless about how to affect change within the brand. They have ideas, that are never completely thought through or the execution of those ideas is a failure. The company launched a new software system for our POS company wide in May 2025. The team has spent 5 years working on this new system. Day 1 of the launch, the stores couldn't even open due to the new system moving too slowly. The first week the system was used, everything was broken, orders were dropped, functions did not work, product was not in the system and there was no clear way to assist with guest issues.

Pros

I loved my time at Ballard Designs, where being on the marketing team gave me the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of projects and grow my skills

Cons

A downside was limited opportunities for advancement, with few options to move up in job titles, and compensation tended to be on the lower side

Pros

* great team * wonderful training to open new location * discount, benefits * repeat clients

Cons

*huge disconnect btw mngrs and designers, sales staff *lack of support or being heard *high monthly quotas for a job that doesn't pay commission (the team can get bonuses but it's a lot of hoops to jump thru for .50 extra an hour for the monthly bonus), the mngrs get big bonuses based on designers meeting quotas *lacks positivity, thankless *working every weekend, you're supposed to get 1 weekend off a month but it's typically a partial wkend *PTO can be confusing and not communicated well. Do your own research with everything *they want seasoned designers but need to hire fresh out of college. Anyone that is seasoned won't put up with the climate long *major micro managed *cleaning store restrooms everyday *being told blatantly and not so blatantly that we are replaceable; i heard a call where it was said they expect a lot of turnover.....NO loyalty *you will get in big trouble if you go 1 minute past a 40 hour week; or more than 7 min late *general treatment of feeling like the designers and sales are children, not adults with a lot of degrees and experience amongst everyone *no appreciation for varied personalities with strengths in certain areas and challenges in other areas *favoritism *huge delays on all upholstered items; quality control
