Pros
BambooHR as a whole really cares about their employees and it shows through their fantastic benefits. The founders, Ben and Ryan, know you by name and are truly invested in you as a person, not just a number. I think they have done well with strategically and thoughtfully managing the growth that they've seen over the past few years. Everyone I worked with was welcoming, friendly, and some of the best colleagues I've had. The product is fantastic and the company not only cares about their employees, but deeply cares about their customer base.
Cons
The Sales department has the biggest opportunity for growth in my opinion. Support leads are not always distributed evenly, the floor can be a bit cliquey and interviews for management positions are opened up internally even though upper management has in mind who they want to hire. Additionally, hiring internally can be great and allow employees to have a clear path to advancement. However, the best sales reps don't always make the best managers. Especially if they haven't had management experience before. In my experience, it has the feeling of a popularity contest. Diversity is severely lacking and there is no clear outline for how the company intends to take steps towards improving this. As a tech company that boasts on LinkedIn that their employees can work from home, this is not the case in the Sales department. It is often frowned upon if there is ever a need to work from home and is strongly discouraged. Trust in this area seems to have to be earned rather than given outright and revoked when that trust is broken. Pay is salary only, which incentivizes sandbagging and pushing deals to close in the following month if a rep has already hit their goal for the month. There is only one location based out of Utah, meaning that sales reps are working with leads from all over the world. This means that you could be taking calls , doing demos, and scheduling appointments at 9:00pm so that you can accommodate international clients. The business is getting too big and the software is too popular to only have one set of sales reps working North American and international leads.
