Pros

Employee Discount Networking Taxidermy Fish Tank

Cons

They do not care about you. ZERO stability or recognizable pattern in weekly schedules. You need 2 weeks notice for a scheduled day off (that they may not honor), but they can change your schedule less than 48hrs before your shift WITHOUT NOTICE. They encourage you to work more than you are able (even if you decline) but reprimand you for hitting overtime. They want you to bend over backwards and sacrifice everything else in your life but will never bend back in your favor. They prefer to hire incompetent people so they can pay them less. They will complain that they pay you too much if you do your job well and stick around more than 4-6 months. Will refuse to hire new employees for months at a time when departments are struggling after former employees walk out en masse. They ONLY care about scamming people into signing up for their Bass Pro / Cabela’s credit card(s) by having the employees hustle customers so they can get around predatory lending laws.

Pros

General coworker relationships are positive. Lots of walking around and moving, which keeps you active. That is about it...

Cons

Where to start? The root of the many issues of this company is that upper management (who make all the decisions) is so far removed from the people who the actual decisions and changes affect. Decisions are made in a vacuum, and employees are treated as numbers on a spreadsheet. Bass Pro is a true corporation in the cliche sense. Work here if you are okay with making below-average to average pay and dreading going to work. Another huge issue is what they allow the customers to get away with. Appalling, really, and some customers should be ashamed of the way they act, but people will always take as much as you allow and then some, so really it starts with the company setting clear boundaries that protect ITSELF but also its employees.
