Pros

Plenty of hours to work. Hourly rate was very good. Regular workers are entitled to benefits, casual workers receive an extra hourly percentage to compensate for vacation time and sick days. The most important reward for me was the gratitude of the vast majority of my clients who were very appreciative of my work.

Cons

The assignments sometimes were in completely different areas of the town, so you have to waste time driving from places too far away. There were frequent scheduling mistakes. It was difficult to get a hold of the nurse in charge or the client's case manager. Upper management was completely detached from day to day operations. Even with the drawbacks, I really enjoyed working there.

“That’s the way we’ve always done it” mentality from the old guard Resistance to change It’s a non-profit, wages were never competitive Limited career advancement

Pros

I was initially hired for a different internship than the one I ended up doing (for reasons outside their control), but I loved the culture and learning experience so much that I would’ve done any job for them. It was really great.

Cons

Wish my internship could’ve lasted longer
