Pros
When the work is there, the pay is good, I mean really good. Sometimes you get lucky with a decent hotel or you don't have to share a room. Get paid mileage and per diem for hotel stay. People are nice.
Cons
Even if you're FULL TIME you don't necessarily get full time hours. They just want you to have full time availability, so there's that inconsistency and lack of job security. They claim to be generous with their mileage reimbursement but it barely covers the bare minimum and they take off 30 miles from home and to home meaning if you drove from home 100 miles to the project site and drove back, you're only getting 140 miles reimbursed.Which honestly would be fine IF they paid for the time you spent driving. And as for hotel stays, they book the hotels for you based on where you live, how far it is from you and the project site, blahblahblah. You'll get some crappy hotels. Oh and they use CLC for the most part, which wouldnt be a problem IF THEY GAVE YOU A CARD. You have to use a stupid sign in sheet and have to fight with the front desk to print it out. Oh, and now you have to talk to the front desk to let them know that "clc has a 24 hour reservation" meaning they cant kick you out the next day. Which sucks if you're working overnight because you come back to the hotel around 6am get about 5 hours of sleep until you get a phone call saying "gotta go" only to try to explain again about CLC's policy and then you gotta give them this phone number so you're awake for another 2 hours just arguing to try to get some sleep but eventually you gotta call the regional manager or whatever to find you a different place to stay. So there you are driving on 5 hours of sleep only to get to your hotel and finally lay in bed in order to check your emails. Oh, and the company credit card they give you? You have to call someone in order to use it. I don't know if they have anyone working in accounting , but you think if someone bought something non-work related that they could just take their card away or fire them, but nope.
