Pros

Salary and Benefits are decent however there was confusion about start dates or affective dates A lot of mess ups with that

Cons

Dysfunctional enviroment Where to begin The entire company needs a big overhaul. There are things going from all directions that are not right Favoritism,Extracurricular( dont want to say too much) activity to get a promotion, Just a very toxic environment. Too Bad it carries the Aveda Name. Not what the founder would want to be known for. Just a reminder do not complain about the “Pushback” students if you are not up holding the standards a learning institute should for a young or older mind to gain education the leadership need in let the students know you care if you tell another staff member you hate students ....... What do you think will eventually happen to you. If you talk behind a coworkers back ........ Do you think students dont see or hear this. If you have unlicensed “instructors” working there what do you think the students get from that. If a co worker asks you for help and you are smug and roll your eyes and shoot daggers and them with your eyes at them. What does that teach a student. There is only one of two ways they can go with this

Pros

The pros of this job is obviously the opportunity to teach. Knowing I’m giving the skill of one of humanity’s longest surviving careers to new generations is amazing. The personal fulfillment of seeing someone finally GET it and see it stick with them is awesome. Some of my coworkers are really cool and I enjoy to work with those ones.

Cons

Where can one begin, really? Overall, BBI/ Neill Corp. has seemed to align itself with profit over quality. As an Aveda alumni, the quality of almost everything has noticeably deteriorated. The school itself is falling apart, the kits the students receive is so close to being fraudulent, I worry about lawsuits. They are sold lies from the admissions department. We are woefully understaffed because: We are incredibly underpaid for the amount of chaos this job throws at us. There is no incentive to work harder. We have really no genuine work culture. People barely know each other and everyone’s very cagey, as if they’re worried someone’s going to tell on them for being truthful. No one is listened to on things that truly matter, like the quality of the overall education, the cramming of clients like the school is a real salon, and the cheapness of the equipment given to students. Key tools have been missing in their kits, and drop shipped items have appeared. The VP of education believes texturizing shears are a crutch, and students should be able to do the same techniques with a standard shear. It’s preposterous. There is no support when a deranged client comes into the building, or when a student is verbally or physically assaulting us. Students get sent back to class after being sent to the office to be excused for the day on countless occasions. Students who should’ve been terminated quickly are somehow almost close to graduating with no issues to the higher ups, but causing us educators endless stress and frustration.i could go on but i don’t think i could properly describe how disappointing it has been as a proud Aveda alumni that I’ve had to work under such a lackadaisical, unorganized, unproductive, and unprofessional management team.
