Pros
Good opportunity for new LPNs or new grads looking for experience in leadership as the nurses role here is quite independent/manager like. You will become well versed on overseeing assessments and care plans/service plans and conducting skin head to toe and functional assessments as well as become well versed in medication administration (only PO or Topical meds).
Cons
It is a business and the buildings are ran by sales/executive directors/HR, often found that money and making fast sales was a high priority and the nursing team was rarely appreciated by these teams despite the nurses holding the building together 90% of the time. Always short staffed with RCAs and lots of turn over in both the RCA and nursing departments with little to no support..lots of favortism, bullying and not much opportunity to level up. I got bored quick and felt my skilled nursing skills were getting rusty as this location we were not even allowed to bandage a minor wound let alone do anything like insulins/vaccinations, etc. Stressful unrealistic demands in the day to day work place and over scheduling.
