Pros
The windows team at Bergdorf is a great place to start working as you emerge from school into the workforce, great for 20 year olds who are fresh faced from art school and need a flexible schedule to make art. The work is freelance and projects range from decoupaging newspaper on to lion sculptures to hot glueing sea shells all over a velvet sofa. The work is creative and the team is small and fun to work with.
Cons
The leadership team have solid careers working full-time with the company, and by contrast they tend to treat the freelance team like a pack of misfit hobos. At first the jokes and playfulness about how everyone is a starving artist is funny, but after working with them for 4-5 years you start to feel like the job should yield more benefits especially when you work freelance off and on again for that long. Also the older gay men working leadership can be excessively lascivious to employees with remarks and jokes bordering on harassment, how it's gone unnoticed by HR for so long is baffling.
