Pros
There are opportunities for advancement and/or salary increases. Small, family-owned / run business and the salaried employees all know each other and generally get along well together.
Cons
Senior management does not like sharing information that is key to helping employees do their jobs well. Politics extraordinarily high for such a small company at the senior management level. If you tell senior management what they want to hear, you are rewarded. If you bring up problems that need to be addressed, you are "blacklisted". Family owned / run business and the owners appear to argue and talk with subordinates about the problems they have with other owners or other subordinates without talking directly to the person they have the problem with. No strategy communicated about the direction of the company. High expectations for working evenings and weekends. Employee sacrifices are not recognized or rewarded. Company appears to be in constant financial crisis without a financial strategy, plan, or goal in place.
