Pros

Competitive pay - for retail. Flexible schedule - particularly for those in school. Co-workers. Opportunities to learn about new technologies. Tuition assistance for FT employees.

Cons

The promotion flow is PT -> FT -> Senior/Sup -> Manager. If you don't want to be a retail manager, there is nowhere else to advance. All the positions within a store are essentially the same - Operations, Sales, Geek Squad. It's all customer service and sales. No way to really change pace/job duties, unless you hide yourself in an inventory position. Mind-numbing repetition - having the same conversation with 50 different customers a day, same music playing on the radios, same video on loop on the HEET wall. Chalk-talks. No sense of accomplishment, very little challenge, no personal space. Varying work shifts - close, open, 4 hours shifts, inconsistent breaks. Sunday morning meetings, Black Friday, working on holidays. No insurance, tuition assistance, vacation, sick, or personal time for PT employees.

Pros

No Need to sell or deal with customers (Much) Constantly moving so you always have a task to do Management leaves you to your own devices Almost all warehouse employees have a set of headphone

Cons

Everyone (Cust & employees) Expect an encyclopedic knowledge on where every single item is. Management seems to think we can lift a 85" tv, pull a washer off the top shelf, stock gaming shelves, and handle store pick up at the same moment. Customers think we don't want to help them when we call someone else to help with sales There's almost too much to do and even though we may have 1-3 employees working at a time, 1 is at the door, 1 is behind store pick up, which leaves 1 employee to handle new orders, deliveries, and down stocking.
