Pros

-Store discount leads to deals on some items. You can purchase a lot of electronics online for the same price as the employee discount though. -If you work in the Computer dept / Geek Squad area, perks from software and hardware vendors exist. Things like free, advanced copies of new software applications are not uncommon. -Good job for someone in high school or college needing to pay bills. Overall, I had a decent experience here without much to complain about, considering I sold lots of accessories and warranties and was nice to people.

Cons

-Your individual job experience depends greatly on the store manager and their zeal to meet extended warranty (called a protection or service plan) and other metric numbers. If you sell a lot of extended warranties, great! If not, your work hours may be cut and you will be given undesirable shifts or not be able to take off some days. This leads to many employees being VERY pushy with customers on selling the warranty. The company isn't a comission environment, so employees don't care if anything is purchased, unless the customer has the gall to not buy a warranty or accessories. This is where the company makes it's money and the insane push to meet numbers drives many of the saavy consumers away, in droves. One time, years after working at BB, I casually glanced at TV in the video dept on the way to the computer software area. While not looking to buy one, I had two employees introduce themselves and immediately push warranties, all within a total of 20 seconds with no clue as to why I was in the store! I bought my anti-virus software and quickly walked out. -Expect to deal with some extremely rude and nasty people, and some just-plain wierdos and the chemically imbalanced. This is typical of working in retail, and not just Best Buy. -Product Training: There are few "experts" in any of the product areas. Most will simply spout complete off-the-hip ideas, or will make something up to establish a relationship with the customer. The savvy, self-motivated employees learn on their own. After that, they have been known to bail for other lines of work and much better pay.

Pros

No Need to sell or deal with customers (Much) Constantly moving so you always have a task to do Management leaves you to your own devices Almost all warehouse employees have a set of headphone

Cons

Everyone (Cust & employees) Expect an encyclopedic knowledge on where every single item is. Management seems to think we can lift a 85" tv, pull a washer off the top shelf, stock gaming shelves, and handle store pick up at the same moment. Customers think we don't want to help them when we call someone else to help with sales There's almost too much to do and even though we may have 1-3 employees working at a time, 1 is at the door, 1 is behind store pick up, which leaves 1 employee to handle new orders, deliveries, and down stocking.
