Worked at BetMGM for 5 years, and while I had high hopes upon joining, my experience was ultimately disappointing due to persistent organizational issues and a lack of strategic vision from leadership.
One of the most troubling patterns I witnessed was the company’s tendency to lay off employees with little notice or transparency, only to repost the same roles a few months later. This cycle creates a toxic atmosphere where employees feel disposable rather than valued. There was no meaningful effort to retain talent or communicate why these decisions were being made.
The company struggles with alignment and focus. Strategic priorities shift frequently, and teams are left scrambling to adjust to new directives with minimal support or explanation. Leadership appears disconnected from day-to-day operations, and there’s a noticeable lack of accountability at the top. Initiatives are launched with great enthusiasm, but follow-through is rare. As a result, much of the work feels chaotic and rushed, with little chance for sustainable impact.
Processes are either outdated or nonexistent, and there’s little interest in investing in tools or systems that could improve workflow or clarity.
I saw talented colleagues come and go at a rapid pace. Burnout is common due to unrealistic expectations and a lack of clarity around roles and responsibilities. Feedback is often ignored, and upward mobility is more about being in the right clique than based on merit.
The company talks about growth and innovation, the reality is a high-turnover environment driven by poor planning and a revolving door of employees. I would strongly caution anyone considering a role here to ask direct questions about turnover, long-term strategy, and what concrete steps are being taken to improve culture and stability.
